Fugro-McClelland Marine Geosciences

Fugro-McClelland
Marine Geosciences, Inc (FMMG) is the world leader in the field of offshore
geotechnical engineering, particularly as it applies to deep water. FMMG
pioneered the application of soil mechanics and foundation engineering to the
offshore petroleum industry, and has continued to be the leader in the industry
through repeated contributions to all aspects of marine geotechnology.
The company’s main service
line is offshore site investigations for production facilities, bridges,
terminals, buoys, docks, anchoring systems and various types of coastal and
marine structures. The services typically involve a field data collection
exercise, laboratory testing and engineering analysis. In some instances
the work required may be limited to engineering consulting service.
Typical projects include:
-
Design and
implementation of site investigations
-
Pile installation
studies, design, and instrumentation
-
Pile installation

-
Seismic
and liquefaction studies
-
Finite element analysis
for:
-
Soil structure
interaction for foundation studies
-
Two and three
dimensional analysis
-
Deformation studies for
earth structures
-
Marine Surveying
-
Floating facilities
studies
-
Anchoring
system design
-
Slope stability and
mudslide studies
-
Jack-up siting studies
-
Research and
development
-
Geotechnical
instrumentation
Key elements to our
success are as follows:
- FMMG has 50+ years
of worldwide experience and, together with our affiliates, has completed an
estimated 90% of all foundation investigations for offshore production
structures.
- Fugro-McClelland
owns and operates a complete selection of state-of-the-art geotechnical
exploration equipment and maintains laboratory facilities to provide both
routine and sophisticated soil testing. In addition, we have in-house
computer engineering analyses and computer mapping.
- Fugro-McClelland
owns and routinely operates an extensive complement of geotechnical in situ
testing and sampling equipment including the most advanced in situ testing
and sampling system available today for marine foundation investigations.
Our proprietary developments include piezocone penetrometers, in situ vane
shear devices, push samplers, fixed piston samplers, coring equipment and
pressure coring systems.
- Fugro-McClelland
maintains a staff of experienced drillers, soil and electronic technicians,
field engineers, and related personnel to carry out our field assignments.
